As a follow-up to our post, we would like to inform you that the changes related to the utilization of parental leave have now been approved in the National Council.

The full parental leave entitlement until the child's 2nd year of life will now only be available to employees if both parents take at least 2 months of leave. If only one parent takes parental leave, the law change now only allows for leave until the end of the child's 22nd month of life. Therefore, the entitlement to parental leave will be reduced by 2 months. The proposal suggests that this will apply to births from August 1, 2023, onwards.

The employment law team at KWR is happy to assist you with any questions you may have regarding parental leave
